Sponsored Postdoctoral Positions

We are seeking self-motivated and adaptable postdoctoral associates to join our interdisciplinary research team. PEESE offers a dynamic and collaborative environment, working closely with renowned collaborators across Cornell and external partners on high-impact research. These positions are fully supported and include comprehensive Cornell employee benefits.

Qualified candidates will receive sponsorship and support to apply for prestigious postdoctoral opportunities, including:

Visiting Researcher Opportunities

We welcome visiting scholars and students from the global scientific community to engage in collaborative research. PEESE visitors typically join for a defined period and are supported by their home institutions or external fellowships. These visiting roles offer opportunities to contribute to high-impact research in a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment.

Visiting Researcher Expectations

Visiting researchers are expected to be self-motivated and strongly committed to producing high-quality original research. PEESE fosters a collaborative environment and value individuals who contribute positively to the group’s culture and shared goals. Candidates should have prior first-authored publications aligned with PEESE research interests and demonstrate enthusiasm for interdisciplinary collaboration.

Prospective Graduate Students

PEESE previously hosted students from the M.Eng. programs, which are non-thesis professional degrees distinct from research-focused M.S. programs. Many of these students earned prestigious project awards for their outstanding work.

We welcome self-funded M.S. students committed to high-quality thesis research. M.S. students are expected to engage in original and innovative research, often leading to Ph.D. studies or careers in industry. Interdisciplinary coursework enhances graduate research endeavors, with recommended courses such as CS 6703: AI for Science and CS 6780: Advanced Machine Learning. Additional courses offered by PEESE are available to support specific research needs. However, please note that we are no longer accepting new M.S. students in upcoming years.

Our Ph.D. students contribute to high-impact work that bridges fundamental research and practical applications. Many collaborate with industry partners and NGOs to address real-world challenges, and some gain additional experience through internships at organizations such as JP Morgan, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Intel, ExxonMobil, and Dow Chemical.
